Patty grew up in St. Louis, Missouri with her mom, dad, brother and sister. Her love for photography began at a young age, when her summer nanny, a graduate photography student, taught her and her younger sister how use a film camera and develop black and white prints.
She attended the University of Missouri and met an outspoken guy from Texas, who became her best friend and love of her life. Lucky for her, he shares her passion for photography, travel, justice and living for more than the American dream. She uses her understanding of people gained through her degrees in psychology and religious studies to further the meaning behind her photos. She strives to take pictures that tell a story and make people see everyday things in new ways.
The highlight of her career in photography thus far was visiting Northern Vietnam in the summer of 2009, to shoot a documentary about a Vietnamese-American priest who dedicated his life’s work to aiding an oppressed people group in a mountain village.
She now resides in Irving, Texas with her husband Allan, good friend Phoebe, and her puppy-dog, Gus. She is pursuing a masters degree in communications, with hopes that it will advance One:Eight’s vision and efforts.
